Painting Haiti

A friend of ours had this great idea to employ Makayla's artistic knack; bringing a bit-o-Haiti for their home from ours.  They wanted a visual reminder for their kids as they pray for Haiti.  Such a fun idea!  So Makayla has her easel up, paints out and all creative juices flowing.  Here's her work so far.  I think she is going to add some more Haitian critters, like pigs or something.  She is doing a good job!

  3. Wow...I am impressed. Good job, Makayla, and way to go for using your talents for God! I like the idea of donors being able to have something personal/from Schmicks to remind them to pray.

Andrea...how have you approached art as you homeschooled?

  4. It is fun. I'm not equipped with the talent or the deep desire like the rest of my siblings & mom...it seems to drip from them. So I've used Art Attack and because Makayla oozes artistic goodness when she gets together with my family they dive into the art-pool and they dive deep. I just offer to buy whatever she needs to keep her motivated and able to play & learn. :) There is a great art website that we like to use http://thatartistwoman.blogspot.com/.
